Its been two years since the Orlando Magic drastically shook up the NBA landscape by trading away their star center Dwight Howard to the Los Angeles Lakers in a four team deal. Here are the basics of the trade.

Magic receive: Nikola Vucevic, Arron Afflalo, Moe Harkless, Josh McRoberts, draft picks
Lakers receive: Dwight Howard, Earl Clark, Chris Duhon
Nuggets receive: Andre Iguodala
Sixers receive: Andrew Bynum, Jason Richardson

Its been just two years, but so many things have changed for the teams and players involved in that time. The Los Angeles Lakers, projected winners of the trade at the time, landed one of the NBAs best big men and appeared to have a potential dynasty on their hands with Pau Gasol, Howard, Kobe Bryant and Steve Nash. Two years later, Gasol is on the Bulls, Howard on the Rockets, Nash is a shell of his former self and Bryant has been injured and isnt getting any younger. So much for a potential dynasty.

All I know is this--the NBA is better when the Lakers and Celtics suck. I don't care if there's a huge fanbase for both teams. I don't care what their histories are. And to top it off, neither team appears destined to significantly improve by next season. The Celtics can see the light, but the Lakers have turned into a black hole. It's hilarious, and warranted. It doesn't hurt the fanbase of either team to suffer a bit, just like everybody else has while they've dominated for years.

Please don't mix up your hatred for the teams and what's best for the league, thanks.

Same old same old?

The league is better when the best franchises are good because people love to root against them. It's less true in the NBA than it is in other sports, but it's still true. You sound just like the people who say "The MLB is better when the Yankees are bad". Personally I love it, but big market teams with large fanbases and large groups of haters being good is great for the league.
