FOX 31, a Denver television station, is citing high league officials as their source to a recent report that there has been a "rash of positive tests under the steroid policy as a result of players taking water pills to lose weight."

FOX's Josina Anderson cited about 6-10 failed tests in her report, with 3-4 coming from the New Orleans Saints organization.

Deuce McAllister and Will Smith have been named by the station, who also claims a drug called: Bumetanide, is the result in most failed tests.

Bumentanide is a diuretic frequently used for weight loss, but also for masking the use of steroids or other drugs.

The NFL has not made any announcements of any failed tests, but should FOX 31's finding prove to be accurate, all players named will face a suspension of 4-games.

It is widely believed by FOX 31 that most players fingered for the failed tests are unaware that Bumentanide is a banned substance, as per NFL Policy. -AE

wow - that would hurt the Saints drastically if both players suspended.

and assuming other teams did the same. but makes you wonder if they're truly trying to lose weight or not, too

deuce will be a big loss with already losing reggie for a couple weeks, i think will can be replaced though. he's been pretty invisible this year.

Lesson to everyone: DOnt take a drug unless you positively, 100% know WHAT IT IS.

I never trust any of this crap i hear, that these drugs do what their supposed to do.

I dont understand why players get themselves into this mess. And why is it that Fox is breaking the news but noone else is? My friend from NJ mentioned it on my site (just created it yesterday) and i couldnt find any news of it on NFL.com. Good to know the whole story now.

ya im hearing more and more of it. Heard about it on SC this morning.

That's really a bummer for the Saints, but Im assuming that they'll wait to punish the players till after Week 8 games, seeing as the Saints are counting on Deuce to take over the carries for Bush. I wonder how they'll cope with both RB's out next week? Not saying it'll happen, but if Goodell is willing to fine people 45k for ball throwing and talking smack to Referees, then Im sure he'll suspend the players involved in the tests.

ESPN's Chris Mortenson reports that NFL and Union Officials acknowledged there are 8 failed drug tests.

Deuce, Will Smith, Charles Grant, and Houston Long-snapper Bryan Pittman are all confirmed tests that are pending investigation.

FOX Sports is now relaying reports that BOTH Kevin Williams and Pat Williams, of the Minnesota Vikings, may be 2 more of the failed drug tests that the NFL is investigating.

All I have to say is: "Oh sh.."
