FOX 31, a Denver television station, is citing high league officials as their source to a recent report that there has been a "rash of positive tests under the steroid policy as a result of players taking water pills to lose weight."
FOX's Josina Anderson cited about 6-10 failed tests in her report, with 3-4 coming from the New Orleans Saints organization.
Deuce McAllister and Will Smith have been named by the station, who also claims a drug called: Bumetanide, is the result in most failed tests.
Bumentanide is a diuretic frequently used for weight loss, but also for masking the use of steroids or other drugs.
The NFL has not made any announcements of any failed tests, but should FOX 31's finding prove to be accurate, all players named will face a suspension of 4-games.
It is widely believed by FOX 31 that most players fingered for the failed tests are unaware that Bumentanide is a banned substance, as per NFL Policy. -AE
