After Rudy Gay's trade to the Sacramento Kings, the thinking was it could be the beginning of the Toronto Raptors' rebuild.
The team could be close to making their second move with that in mind.
According to a report from ESPN, the Raptors are trying to construct a deal with the New York Knicks that would involve Kyle Lowry.
Lowry has started all 20 games for the Raptors this season, this his second year in Toronto. The point guard has averaged 14.6 points per game and 6.7 assists.
The seven-year veteran has averaged 10.8 points and 5.1 assists per game over his career.

That would make NYK better. Granted, they can only get better.

Really gotta live Ujiri trying to clean house. You always hear about blowing up rosters and trading everybody, but the guy actually does it.

Frank Isola @FisolaNYDN Follow

Knicks, Nets & Warriors all interested in Toronto point guard Kyle Lowry.

Marc Stein ✔ @ESPNSteinLine Follow

If talks progress and no other teams jump in, trade would likely have to feature Ray Felton going to Toronto with at least one more player

Howard Beck ✔ @HowardBeck Follow

Raymond Felton would likely be sent to TOR in any deal for Lowry, tho Knicks would need to include more salary (MWP?) to make it work.

Apparently we want some sort of young talent or a pick to take on Feltons contract

Toronto is trying to get rid of anyone not named Valanciunas that would hurt their chances of getting Wiggins.

With that said, I wouldn't make this move. Lowry is coming off the books, will likely miss a string of game due to injuries, and you'd be taking on a lengthier deal in Felton.

8:36pm: According to Wojnarowski, Knicks owner James Dolan is sensitive to the public perception that GM Masai Ujiri bamboozled him in the Carmelo Anthony trade, and the chance of getting criticized for giving up too much in a deal for Lowry has become a hurdle in these talks.

He adds that New York doesnt want to include either Shumpert or Hardaway Jr. in discussions, and without Shumpert or a draft pick going to Toronto, there isnt any traction to a deal. Also, the Knicks are reportedly hesitant about trading a future first round draft choice to the Raptors, and there seems to be doubt over how long theyll keep that option on the table.

As for the Nets interest, Wojnarowski says the team isnt willing to include either a 2020 first-round pick or one of its young players including Mason Plumlee in a trade package.

I just want to see Kyle end up in a good situation. He's a good player. I don't know how badly Toronto needs to deal him, though. He's expiring, and it's not like his last few years are going to allow him to demand much. If they actually get better, signing him to a reasonable deal and having consistent play from a good veteran might be good for the team.
