@jamisonhensley Jamison Hensley
Source: #Ravens have informed Todd Heap that he will be cut
Ravens informed NT Kelly Gregg of his release.
The move was made to clear $3.5 million in salary, but Jamison Hensley of the Baltimore Sun speculates that Gregg could re-sign for a one- or two-year deal worth $1-2 million this season. The Ravens definitely want him back for a rotational role. Now 34, Gregg is going to lose his starting job to Terrence Cody.
Ravens informed RB Willis McGahee and NT Kelly Gregg of their impending release.
Combined, the moves save $9.5 million in salary and $9 million in cap space. They'll become official on Thursday. Per Aaron Wilson of the Carroll County Times, GM Ozzie Newsome told McGahee of his release on Monday afternoon. The Baltimore Sun reported McGahee's post-lockout release would occur several months ago, so it isn't a surprise. The 30-year-old was due a $6 million salary, and his yards-per-carry average plummeted to a career-low 3.76 last season including the playoffs. The Gregg move is a bit more surprising because he's still an effective run stopper. Per Wilson, the Ravens want Gregg back at a lesser salary.

Didn't take them long to trim the roster. Sure you'll see a lot of this going on this week. It's going to be a hectic week. Wonder if these guys will find a place somewhere else. I think they all could, Mason might be iffy, and I knew McGahee was coming soon. His numbers, and workload, has been decreasing each year.

Well, it's time for Ray Rice to carry the load even more with Willis being gone. Willis could have truly been something special but the knee injury really held him back and turned him into an average player throughout his career to say the least.

The Ravens have cut 1,836 yards and 18 touchdowns worth of production in one day. Holy shit.

I was just saying this earlier. McGahee's initial explosiveness was second to none.

about 45 seconds in, once he hits the 30 yard line. Again at 2:03. Again at 2:23, and 2:51. That type of explosion is rare. It really is a shame what happened to his knee. The guy would have been special indeed.

You're completely right. Uncanny kind of burst he had from the Miami days, and it was really such a shame to see him slow down in such drastic proportions throughout his career.

He would have been damn good.
