i edited the title but this is hardly topic worthy, imo. oh well, solid signing assuming the knicks dont match.

he was our top sign and trade chip to try and match higher offers for Nash. Without him it's down to Shumpert and Lin because guys like Harrelson and Douglas aren't worth enough, haha.

i wouldnt be surprised if the raptors turn to lin now. maybe they offer him a deal and the knicks let him walk. leaves the nash/ny deal to happen.

that's another idea i've heard since Lin and Fields are good friends. I honestly think it's for Nash though especially since the 3rd year is like $9M -- that wouldn't work well next to a backloaded Lin contract.

There is no hell way that the Raptors are going to turn their head on Nash until he signs somewhere ;) ... Steve Nash is the #1 option here ....

I think it's topic worthy, especially because it's such a smart move from BC here. He's blocking out the Knicks from Nash here; this only increases our chances at pursuing a contract with him.

There were reports the Suns had coveted Fields in a sign-and-trade deal with the Knicks for Nash; if the Knicks match the offer for Fields, league rules forbid them from putting him in a sign-and-trade deal.

By back-loading the contact under new league rules — league sources say it breaks down to about $5 million, $5 million, $9 million over the three years — it would put the Knicks far into a more punitive tax situation in the third year, making it less likely they match the offer.

these back loaded deals are going to ruin the league like everyone getting max contracts.

Multiple media reports indicate that free agent point guard Steve Nash may be heading to New York as the Knicks and Phoenix Suns work out a sign and trade deal that would end the chance of the Canadian signing with the Toronto Raptors.

The Raptors offered the 38-year-old native of Victoria, B.C., a three-year deal worth $36 million US over the duration of the contract.

The New York Daily News is reporting that the Knicks would send Iman Shumpert, Toney Douglas and two other players to the Suns in the deal, which has yet to be finalized.

Toronto presented Knicks guard Landry Fields with an offer sheet for three years and $20 million on Tuesday, which was seen as an attempt to scuttle a sign-and-trade deal between New York and Phoenix, who reportedly showed an interest in Fields.

If New York was to match the offer sheet, Fields could not be included in the deal for Nash.

It's tough being a Raptors fan, y'know? We barely get chances except through the draft to have stars come here and play unless we have other stars to recruit stars.

Raptors are shit.... Sad that we couldn't sign Nash :/ ...

I knew BC wanted him badly but I didn't really expect him to sign in T-Dot anyways.

I just wished TO could get someone decent ... like the team isn't that bad , you just need to add some pieces and your good to go ... The young group of guys are really good but you need to add some good leadership guys with them .
