At some point last week, an account titled #StopThePizza started following me on Twitter, and though I dont block all that many non-spam accounts, I felt like swiftly blocking the minds behind that title almost out of principle. Stop the pizza? What kind of godless, heathen monster would want to suggest such a thing?

It turns out the account isnt really devoted to stopping the creation and consumption of the Greatest Food Ever full stop, in actuality the account was designed to encourage the Toronto Raptors to dump a campaign that gifts fans a small personal sized pizza from a local chain to ticket holding fans should the home team top 100 points in a win. The promotion has been around for years, as have similar NBA promotions throughout several of its home arenas, but the exercise often encourages ill will from fans to players that the players absolutely do not deserve.

Especially if the players commit the pizza-killing crime of scoring less than 100 points, which some vocal lame-brain fans often prefer to a win. From the organizations petition, pitched in order to stop the embarrassment:

I was actually thinking about this the other day... kind of funny, I really hope they do stop it. Hate to see players booed even in a win.

Man, who gives a fuck? Chin up Raptors players, the least you can do is give me a free pizza when I shell out a small fortune on tickets, concessions, & parking.

I kind of get it though. It would annoy the fuck out of me to have the home team boo'd after a win just because they didn't score 100 points.

I'm sure the players will get over it when their paycheck gets deposited into their bank account.

It's the fans, not players

I'm aware, I'm saying their motives for wanting to get rid of it are dumb

but the exercise often encourages ill will from fans to players that the players absolutely do not deserve.
My reaction is, they shouldn't see it as ill will, or be effected

The Bulls do something similar. Its Big Macs for 100+ and a win. Bulls never get there anymore. And the crowd doesn't boo unless someone misses a free throw at 99 when the other team is fouling or some shit.

Free chicken wings if a winged team wins the tourney.

There's a pretty good chance that Pizza Hut will be giving America free wings once March Madness is over.

Just stop in any Pizza Hut on Thursday, April 10 between 1 and 4 p.m. for four free wings. The restaurant chain launched its new WingStreet wings this week with a promotion that's hard to beat. If a team with a winged nickname mascot takes home the NCAA national title, everyone gets free wings.

Throughout the tournament, Pizza Hut is also making daily free deliveries of WingStreet wings to select fans who tweet @PizzaHut using the hashtag #WingsDelivered.
Sports business reporter Darren Rovell tweeted that the teams you should be cheering for if you want free wings are the:
  • Kansas Jayhawks
  • Louisville Cardinals
  • Creighton Bluejays
  • Iowa State Cyclones (Cy the Cardinal is the mascot)
  • Iowa Hawkeyes
  • St. Joseph's Hawks
  • Delaware Blue Hens
  • Coastal Carolina Chanticleer
  • North Carolina Central University Eagles
  • Oregon Ducks
  • Dayton Flyers
