BEREA, Ohio -- Randy Lerner is close to completing a deal to sell majority interest in the Browns to Tennessee businessman Jimmy Haslam, a minority owner of Pittsburgh Steelers, with a guarantee that the team will not be moved out of Cleveland.

Browns President Mike Holmgren, in a press conference this afternoon before the Browns practice, confirmed that Lerner "will give up controlling interest in the team."

Earlier in the day, an NFL source told The Plain Dealer that the deal was close to being completed.

No, he'll have to sell his small stake in the Steelers.

This is interesting. I wonder why a Steeler fan would want the Browns?

Because he wasn't a Steeler "fan" until he bought a part of their team.

"I am 1,000 percent a Steelers fan!" - Jimmy Haslam

He's still, from what it sounds like, a big Steelers fan.

In a 2010 investor profile on the Steelers website, Haslam says he was originally a Cowboys fan and later a Colts fan. But business developments caused him to have a change of heart.

Jeez, he's the biggest bandwagon ever lol You better hope he isn't the new owner, half way through the year he'll decide he's no longer a Browns fan, trade Weeden, Richardson and Gordon to his new team. He seems like the type of sports fan, who is the fan everyone hates. ALA Yankess and Heat fans.

He knows what Football is, that alone makes him an improvement over Lerner.

Not bothered by his fan allegiances to teams he didn't invest 920 million dollars into.
