The St. Louis Rams cut two players today. But they weren’t the two players that were expected to be cut — receiver Torry Holt and tackle Orlando Pace.
Instead, the Rams released quarterback Trent Green and receiver Drew Bennett, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.
Cutting Green reportedly frees up $1.3 million in cap space. The departure of Bennett results in only an additional $50,000 cap savings.
Holt and Pace could still get the ax.
Green signed with the team last year, his second stint with the Rams. His first tour began with a blown out knee in the preseason, which launched the career of Kurt Warner — and set the stage for the franchise’s only Super Bowl win.
