Rams release FS Atogwe to avoid $8M bonus

Atogwe was due an $8M roster bonus on the 21st, and the Rams clearly had no plans to pay it. Though Atogwe had expressed desire to stay in St. Louis, he'd be smart to shop his wares on the market. Unlike most unrestricted free agents, Atogwe doesn't have to wait for a new CBA to sign elsewhere. He also turns 30 this summer, and won't have many more chances like this to hit it big. I could see the Lions definitely going after Atogwe. I know we were trying to get him last offseason,so now that he is a free agent we might be able to get him.

In regards to being a premier safety in the NFL? Not totally. His name is left out from a few high-end lists, due to the big names in the NFL, which is what I meant, but that doesn't take away the fact this guy has serious game.

OJ isn't someone you sign for depth, he can start on 90% of the teams in the league. But if ya'll are locking up Atogwe long term, where does Delmas go?

I know that, and he would start. Most likely switch him to SS, and Coleman would be a backup at SS. I'm not saying we'd get him. Just wouldn't hurt to show him we're interested.

Yeah, I'm sure lots of teams will be interested. The Bengals desperately need a safety. Both Roy Williams and Chris Crocker are past their times.
