Though the San Francisco Chronicle has reported that Richard Seymour will be slapped with the franchise tag, NFL Network's Jason LaCanfora expects the Raiders to use the tag on TE Zach Miller.
The Chronicle and LaCanfora are both citing sources. The Raiders may end up using both the franchise and the transition tag. If they do plan to franchise Miller, there's a good chance they will lock up Seymour to a long-term deal. Miller, the most valuable member of the Oakland passing game, just turned 25 years old after four years in the NFL. It would be far less expensive to franchise a tight end than a defensive end.

That makes sense because it'd be less expensive and he has more value to them. Plus, he's younger. Miller is a big guy and is slowly becoming one of the best TE's in the league. Their offense was alright last year, It was mostly the run game that did most of the work, but he's averaged over 10 yards per catch each 4 years. Numbers down a little bit from '09, but there's no question he is valuable to them.
