The big Richard Seymour trade looked pretty good at first... for the New England Patriots, who got the Silver 'n' Black's 2011 first-rounder out of it. So do the Raiders have a chance of recouping that cost, or somehow bettering it?
NFL Insider Adam Schefter posits that there is a way, in a purely hypothetical sense:
"After this season, I would put the franchise tag on [Seymour] and trade him to the highest bidder for a first round pick. That way, you get back the first round pick you gave up and get Seymour this season for free. How's that for being swift? Better, maybe you can even get a first and a fifth-round pick for Seymour if enough teams are interested. And then you've gotten the season from him along with an extra pick."
