Kurt Warner expected to retire Friday:
ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that the Cardinals have scheduled a Friday press conference to address Kurt Warner's future.
According to Schefter, "all signs point" toward Warner hanging 'em up. His retirement would leave Matt Leinart as the Cardinals' only quarterback under contract for 2010; third-stringer Brian St. Pierre is a free agent. Warner, who turns 39 in June, finished the 2009 season with a 66.1 completion rate, 26:14 TD-to-INT ratio, and 3,753 passing yards. He indicated to ESPN's Rick Reilly last week that playing football had lost its fun.
All talk surrounding Warner following that playoff loss is nothing other than the man is seriously defeated. Interesting...seeing how we all saw the 'giddy' Kurt Warner interview prior to that game. Warner's tune has changed a lot since that loss and even though he'd be making a ton of money to play that final year of his contract, I do believe he retires. Kurt Warner has said before that he has a ton of things he is anxious to do after football, he's got a ton of kids to finish watching grow, he's got analyst job offers (up the wazzou) waiting and I think he's already a hall of famer.

Rams considering trading for Michael Vick:
Beat writer Jim Thomas believes the Rams are "seriously considering" trading for Michael Vick.
The Rams wouldn't have to give up much to get Vick and adding him would allow them to focus on filling their many other gaping holes. Vick knows Rams GM Billy Devaney from their time together in Atlanta and would bring instant excitment/controversy to a dormant Rams franchise. His addition would likely also lock in Ndamukong Suh as the No. 1 overall draft pick.
Makes too much sense for the Rams to make this move. I don't think there's any question Suh is the first overall pick and that said, something needs to be done to solidify the quarterback position. The Rams are still rebuilding, won't be expected to compete next season, so what better than to give Vick the ball and see if he can still pull rabbits out of his ass while scrambling out of the pocket? Some talk that the Bills were also interested in acquiring Vick but such talk doesn't make sense at all. Chan Gailey is a guy that covets pocket passing and Vick just isn't that guy.

Vikings to chase McNabb if Favre retires:
According to ESPN's John Clayton, the Vikings will "make a play" for Donovan McNabb if Brett Favre retires.
The connection is obvious because Vikings head coach Brad Childress is McNabb's former offensive coordinator in Philadelphia. Clayton suggests that the Vikings could offer up a second-round pick, but the Eagles may hold out a first-rounder. McNabb, 33, is entering the final year of his contract, but his presence would ensure that Minnesota remained Super Bowl contenders.
I have coveted McNabb since the day Moss was traded and we found out what Culpepper was really made of. If Favre doesn't return, McNabb is the next best option for the Vikes. McNabb is already fluent in the offense and would actually be appreciated in Minnesota. In a perfect world, McNabb leading the Vikings to a Super Bowl title and really sticks it to Philadelphia.

Yes, please take out McNabb out of Philly and more importantly the NFC East. That guy is such a great player and his value can not be more underappreciated around the league, specifically the city of Philadelphia. That guy has torched us time and time again and I just cant wait to see the day that he switches teams or retires.

Sources tell ESPN's Len Pasquarelli that the Bills will indeed consider Michael Vick for their starting quarterback job.

This confirms beat writer Allen Wilson's speculation earlier this week. New coach Chan Gailey likes mobile quarterbacks, and the Bills can't enter 2010 with Trent Edwards as their starter. The Bills would likely only have to give up a conditional sixth- or seventh-round pick to land Vick.

If it's the offseason in Denver, then it must be time for everyone's favorite soap opera, The Young And The Traded. This year's edition stars the petulant and talented Brandon Marshall.

While St. Louis and Tampa Bay have both been mentioned as potential landing spots for the mercurial Marshall, the rumor du jour has him shipping off to...Cleveland? Indeed, the Denver Post's Mike Klis thinks that the Broncos and Browns could solve each other's problems, swapping Marshall for Brady Quinn.

The upshot for the Broncos would be sticking Marshall in a far worse situation than his current one in Denver, while picking up a Charlie Weis-tutored prospect in Quinn who Josh McDaniels perhaps thinks he could turn around. Still, it'd be difficult to imagine the Broncos wouldn't want more in return (a second round pick too?) for Marshall.

So will Marshall end up as a favorite of the Dawg Pound? You'll just have to tune in next time to As The Trade Market Turns.
