The Flyers will not only be without veteran wing Jaromir Jagr against the Carolina Hurricanes on Monday at Wells Fargo Center, but minus defensemen Chris Pronger and Braydon Coburn.

Flyers general manager Paul Holmgren said Pronger is suffering from a virus. He'll be tested and is being listed as day-to-day at this time. Coburn, who has an upper-body injury, participated in the team's morning skate on Monday at Wells Fargo Center.

"Coburn is allowed to skate but not allowed to have contact," Holmgren said. "I think he probably suffered the injury against Winnipeg [on Saturday]."

In their absence, Holmgren on Monday recalled defensemen Kevin Marshall and Marc-Andre Bourdon from Adirondack in the American Hockeygre League and the two players arrived at Wells Fargo Center two hours before game time.

"Kevin is a more in-your-face defenseman and Marc is better with the puck and on the power-play," Holmgren said.

Both Marshall and Bourdon were informed by Adirondack coach Joe Paterson on Sunday night to be ready. They are looking forward to making their NHL debuts against the Hurricanes.

"I could hardly sleep [Sunday] night," Marshall said. "When I got that call, it was good. My type of game is being intense and strong defensively. I take care of my own end and make sure, defensively, I'm the best I can be. I bring a lot of intensity and physical play … I hope to play my best."

Marshall, 22, was drafted in the second round (No. 41) in 2007. In 15 games with the Phantoms this season, he has 1 goal. Bourdon, 22, was chosen in the third round (No. 67) in 2008. In 14 games with the Phantoms, he's produced 3 assists.

"I left for Philadelphia at 10:30 a.m. this morning after getting the call [Sunday] night," Bourdon told NHL.com. "I was told that either me or Kevin or both of us could go. Later on, I was told and Kevin was told this morning, so we're both pretty excited.

"I'm just going to keep it simple and play hard and just move the puck well and defend the zone well. It'll be my first game ever so it's a dream that comes true tonight."

To make room for Marshall and Bourdon, defenseman Erik Gustafsson was placed on the long-term injured reserve. In addition, the Flyers announced they assigned forward Harry Zolnierczyk to their ECHL affiliate, the Trenton Titans.
