Procter & Gamble pulls out of NFL partnership on Breast Cancer Awareness

Procter & Gamble has canceled a major NFL deal that was timed to coincide with Breast Cancer Awareness month, which is coming up in October.

Procter & Gamble had been planning the initiative for its Crest toothpaste, CBS Sports’ Jason LaCanfora reports, but decided to cancel it as the league has struggled with domestic violence issues.

The planned called for players on each team to be designated ambassadors, wearing pink mouthguards and using social media to increase awareness. However, LaCanfora reports that the players have been told the deal is off. However, planned donations to cancer charities will still be made.

Earlier this week, Anheuser-Busch issued a stern warning to the NFL and Marriott said on Friday that it would review its sponsorship deal with the league. Radisson suspended its local sponsorship with the Minnesota Vikings after the arrest of Adrian Peterson on a child abuse charge.

Now, this is something that could force Goodell on. Owners don't care about the public outrage towards Goodell, but they do care about that green.
