Courtesy USA Today.INDIANAPOLIS — South Florida will get a rare double dose of the NFL experience next year when Super Bowl XLIV and the Pro Bowl are played at Miami's Dolphin Stadium.
Indianapolis shouldn't anticipate similar treatment in 2012 when Lucas Oil Stadium hosts Super Bowl XLVI on Feb. 5. It figures to be a once-is-enough situation.
"We are proceeding as though (the Pro Bowl) is not on the horizon for us," said Allison Melangton, president and CEO of the 2012 Indianapolis Super Bowl Host Committee.
The Pro Bowl has been held the week after the Super Bowl and in Honolulu since 1980. However, the league is looking for ways to bolster interest in its all-star game.
Next year that means holding the Pro Bowl on Jan. 31 at Dolphin Stadium, followed by the Super Bowl on Feb. 7.
Commissioner Roger Goodell said the league will evaluate whether a similar format should be followed in the future.
