The Minnesota Vikings are unlikely to retain Christian Ponder or Josh Freeman.

The Vikings believe Matt Cassel is likely to enter training camp as the presumed starter with a highly drafted rookie backing him up.

The Vikings could keep Ponder depending on how their next head coach thinks of him.

You give Ponder a decent playcaller and he'd be fine.

Actually, when he was at his best this season was running a faster offense when he himself was calling the plays.

Freeman's done, though. Dude needs to do some serious soul searching if he wants any chance to continue his career. Clearly there's something missing with his work ethic or Frazier would have given him a late season chance.

If they do go the route of a draft pick, and that shit fails, obviously the issue is the play-caller staff. I thought Freeman would be the man, but yeah..he seems to be lacking something.

Look at the kind of playcaller Musgrave becomes when he doesn't have one great player to rely.on. I'm starting to wonder if he just worries too much about how much he's feeding Adrian.

Now, the Vikings clearly aren't better without Peterson, but they are far too transparent when he's involved. Gotta have the element of surprise.
