Christian Ponder revealed that quarterback tutor Chris Weinke has made an adjustment to his throwing mechanics to keep his arm stronger after shoulder issues at Florida State.
"[My arm] feels great," Ponder said. "... I'm throwing the ball extremely well." Ponder concedes that the lockout isn't helping his opportunity to start this season. "I need as much time and practice as I can get," said Ponder. "It's completely different when you're going against defenses and you're getting coaching from (offensive coordinator Bill) Musgrave and being with your teammates."
While it seems like it can be a good thing, can also be twice as bad.

Meh, not really.
My coach spent about a week, maybe two helping me change my motion.
Even in the middle of working on it, it didn't affect my throws in a bad way at all.
It just takes time to make it second nature.

I'm sure Ponder can handle it a lot better than me obviously lol.

Way different.

For instance, when David Carr came into the NFL they tried to change his motion, never been the same.

Hows it different at all?
My motion was waaaay sidearm, and now it's over the top.
Changing it just makes it feel different, doesn't really take anything away from accuracy. All it really helps is adding a bit more power on the ball, and helps it not get batted down.
No negative effects should come from it, unless you are a total noob. And this guy is a professional.

And are you really trying to blames Carr's career on them trying to change his motion?
SMH. Footwork would have hampered him much more in the conversion. And footwork is way more important, in terms of accuracy.

Its like Tebow.

Tebow may have changed his motion, but whenever presure is in his face and shit.. hes not going to throw how he was trained, hes going to do whats natural. Putting too much thought on how to throw could also fuck you up when your suppose to be making reads and etc.

Thats why you practice it. It wont come over night. It takes time for it to be natural.

Why Ponder will fail: having Chris Weinke as your QB tutor.

So you're a QB Guru now because you play a little bit of HS football?
its hard to change a throwing motion that u have been throwing with for years titan. With your throwing motion u havent even thrown nearly as many passes as ponder in ur life so its easier.

I never said I was a guru, or anything close to it. You're just hating on Ponder, making it seem changing a motion is like trying to walk on water. If this was Gabbert, I know you'd say, it's not a big deal. I bet you've never attempted to change a throwing motion. So what makes you qualified to talk about it more than I? I've had to do it, and it's not a big deal. It's just like breaking a bad habit. And his was fine to begin with. He's just tweaking it.

And David, I know it haven't thrown nearly as many passes as Ponder. But I have been playing football for 10 years. I'm not saying I'm a guru, but it's not my first year. And the fact that Ponder has played a lot more works in his favor. He's a pro, and he should be able to work through it.

Carrs career was fucked because they changed his throwing motion and he got sacked a ridiculous amount of times. While carr was in houston they were getting him to throw over ladders and it fucked him up big time.

When did I ever say it was ever a bad thing?

I said it could be just as good as bad. I never once hated on Ponder in this thread .........

I think Christian Ponder will have a great opportunity with the Vikings which will lead to moderate success. With Peterson and their WR core including Shiancoe, he can initially manage games, but progressively we will see how good he will be. Kind of like what has happened with Mark Sanchez.
