Pistons To Hire Jeff Bower As GM
The Detroit Pistons are close to hiring Jeff Bower as general manager.


 
Bower will leave his job as head coach at Marist College to rejoin the NBA.
 
Bower spent seven seasons as general manager of the New Orleans Pelicans and gives Stan Van Gundy someone with a lot of front office experience.
 
Bower and Van Gundy have had a long relationship dating back to their early days as college basketball assistant coaches in the East.

He's decent but he did build up a good Hornets during his time. Under his belt he drafted Cp3, J.R. Smith, Marcus Thornton, David West and Darren Collison.

This pretty much confirms SVG will be calling all the shots. Bower is nothing more than a figurehead, a seat filler. He's going to do what he is told to do and he will be loyal to the owners. He fits the bill of a cheap hire who fills a seat.
