From espn.com
New England Patriots vice president of player personnel Scott Pioli has agreed to become head of football operations for the Kansas City Chiefs, two NFL sources told ESPN's Michael Smith.

Pioli was seen packing up his office Tuesday afternoon, a Patriots source said.

The decision to hire Pioli likely means Herman Edwards will not be back as Chiefs head coach next season. Among the top candidates to succeed Edwards is New York Giants defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo.

Patriots director of player personnel Nick Caserio will replace Pioli as vice president of player personnel, league sources told ESPN.

Pioli, 43, has been with the Patriots for nine years.

Pioli should find a warm welcome in Kansas City. At the last Chiefs home game, shortly after the embattled Carl Peterson resigned after 20 years as president, general manager and CEO, several signs were spotted in the crowd proclaiming, "We want Pioli."

thats huge for them.

i think Spags will go there, but I just cant picture him as a coach. Hes too eccentric and jumpin around and yellin all the time. Most HCs are too relaxed. But the man does know his defense, lol.

Well my favorite team of all-time has Mark Cuban as an owner. So I'm used to eccentric. And I would love Spags. Young, energetic with a young team and with Pioli calling the shots I'm excited.

I bet Pioli goes out and signs Ferentz from Iowa to coach.

I never thought Peterson was the problem - it's Herm Edwards
