In what is the first major free agent acquisition of the 2009 off-season, the Miami Dolphins have signed safety Gibril Wilson.
Released by the Raiders last week, the 5-year vet signs a a $27.5 million, five-year deal. Wilson spent his first 4 seasons with the Giants before signing with Raiders, prior to the 2008 season. Shoring up the rear of the secondary, the Dolphins also re-signed safety Yeremiah Bell.
Wilson and Bell are set to provide the Dolphins with one hell-of-a duo at the safety position. In Wilson, the Dolphins have the flexibility of a guy who can play both strong and free. Bell, coming off a 120-tackle 2008 season, was a huge part of the Dolphins defensive turnaround last year. -AE
