Philly Bouncing Around Idea of Moving MCW

What are the chances one of Cleveland, Milwaukee or Philadelphia falls in love with him and picks him ahead of the presumed top three picks?

Ford: He's not in the mix for the Cleveland Cavaliers. With Irving firmly embedded at the point and more pressing needs at center and the wing, I think we can safely scratch him from going No. 1.

The Milwaukee Bucks are big fans of Exum. ALthough they like Brandon Knight, they think he's better suited to play the 2-guard and think the combo of Exum and Knight together could be potent. The big question is whether he's a better option than Embiid or Parker. Parker would give them a go-to scorer, while the team thinks strongly that Embiid would be a great fit next to Larry Sanders on the front line. If Milwaukee management had more job security, I think Exum would be its guy. But he might be too big a risk given that new ownership just took control of the team.

The Philadelphia 76ers are Exum fans as well, and if Wiggins is off the board, Exum will be in the mix. They think Exum and Carter-Williams could play together in the backcourt, although it would not be a very good shooting tandem. I think the more obvious fit comes if they trade Carter-Williams, an idea I'm told they have bounced around.

But I think his best bet is with the Orlando Magic. They need a point guard, and an Exum-Victor Oladipo backcourt could be great. Again, there are shooting concerns, but I think at No. 4, the Magic would roll the dice on him.

They got the best player in that draft from 11th. It would be dumb for them to do it unless a team vastly overpaid for MCW.

Look, I can see it. If the Sixers love Exum, and take him #3, and then at #8 overall are the Kings, who want a PG, and Smart was just taken by the Lakers, this could be a great opportunity to grab Julius Randle at #8, and then their choice of a SG/SF at #10.
 
 
They have Noel at center. So it comes down to the question: would you rather have Noel-Parker-MCW as a big 3, and then hope Saric wants to play for you at 10, or not even take a PF and have the huge gap there? Or would you rather have Noel-Randle-Exum, and then at #10 have a choice between the available McDermott/Stauskas/Harris/Young?

I feel like most of those combinations won't be good or won't happen.

Carter-William's value may never be higher than it is right now. He put up huge stats on a terrible team that played the fastest pace in the league this past season, and the second fastest pace the league has seen over the last five seasons. He was one of the oldest guys in last years draft, and he is coming off a ROY campaign. If there is a team out there that is delusional enough about the kind of player he is or could be, if there is a GM that still thinks he could be a star and is willing to pay that kind of price for him, then it's a no brainer. You trade him now if you are Philly. Thing is, I would bet most other GM's are too smart to be fooled by the numbers so I doubt Philly gets any offer they will accept.
