Paul George would find it tough to snub the Los Angeles Lakers should the team attempt to sign him next summer.

George will be a restricted free agent after the 2013-14 season if he doesn't sign an extension.
“My heart is still in Indiana ... I’m still a Pacer, and hopefully I remain a Pacer,” George said when asked about his upcoming free agency. “I'm happy where I’m at.”
A native of California, George was born in Palmdale and grew up cheering for Kobe Bryant and the Lakers.
“Of course it would be tough (to say no to Kobe),” said George. “You’re talking about playing (at) home.”

Unless he takes the QO, he'll be a Pacer for the foreseeable future

I'm surprised that more superstars, like George, don't just take the QO

Cause no one in their right mind would turn down their first big pay day.

So you'd rather take the 5/$62 from Indiana, rather than the $4.45m from the QO and then 5/$62 from your favorite Lakers?

I can understand if you are like a fringe stud, like Kemba Walker, where if you take the QO and don't perform, you might have fucked yourself. But George will be a maxed player, guaranteed.

Never know what happens in that one year plus you want those future contracts to come as early as possible.

But yeah it's mostly about getting money as soon as possible I'd think.

We always talk so lightly about the contracts and what players should do with their money, but truth is, we can't even begin to fathom how it feels like to have the opportunity to agree to a 50+ million dollar contract.

Exactly, it's just a no brainer. One play where your knee gives out and you never get that offer again. You don't turn down that kind of a cash and take 4 mill instead.
