Still not convinced that Chad Pennington's days in the Meadowlands are over? Considering that Pennington is due $4.8 million next season that accounts for $7.8 million on the salary cap, I think it's safe to say that he will be throwing passes elsewhere in 2008.

Pennington cost the Jets several opportunities to score points this season, throwing too many costly interceptions. New York fans have been overly critical of Pennington, as usual, but in all fairness the Jets have housed a very weak offensive line this season. There's no doubt that trading away Pete Kendall earlier in the season didn't help.

Pennington lost his job to Kellen Clemens after a dismal 1-7 start. Head coach Eric Mangini has also made no secret that as long as Clemens is healthy, he will be under center for the Jets.

Despite the shoulder injuries, Pennington still has great arm strength and can be very accurate. He also has a great knowledge for the game and the ability to lead. Looking ahead, I see Pennington a perfect fit for the San Francisco 49ers, who are in desperate need to find a solid veteran back-up that can supplant Alex Smith. Not only would Pennington aid Smith's progress but should Smith continue to take steps backward, Pennington could lead the offense and give the Niners a legit chance to win games.

Pennington in 9 games threw for 1,756 yards, 10 touchdowns, and 9 interceptions for the 2007 season. -AE

Chad may have a good game, but he needs to earn my respect back with a big win.

I don't think it matters either way. Chad's out of NY after 2007.
