Paul Millsap has agreed to sign a two-year, $19 million deal with the Atlanta Hawks.

Millsap had spent his entire career with the Utah Jazz.

The Jazz had to renounce their rights to Millsap to agree upon Friday's trade with the Golden State Warriors.

This is surprising.

ah fug, lemme delete my thread

I really like it for the Hawks. Other than clashing positions with Horford, who has to keep playing at center, looks like a very good, low risk deal. They have to spend their money in some way or fashion, I think they're like something between 25 and 30 million below the minimum team salary.

The surprising part is Millsap not getting a more lucrative deal anywhere else.

This is a really cheap deal for Millsap but I just don't understand what the Hawks are trying to do here. I imagine they'll trade Millsap at the deadline, considering how fucking good that contract is, and the value he'll have.

For natural talent and defensive ability, they just downgraded at the 4, but Millsap doesn't take so damn many bad shots. I wonder how this will affect their offense.

I personally think the Hawks should go after Asik in a Smith S&T. Millsap played 3 a lot this past year, anyway.

EDIT: Though I would love Josh Smith in a Rockets uniform, I do think this would be the best option for ATL in a S&T.

Plus, Asik made some serious strides this past year. As long as there's a coach in ATL who can help him continue, he's only going to get better. You'll notice his presence on day 1.

I agree, Millsap is a much different style of player in general though. I feel like our team is aiming for players with higher BBIQs and more heart on court.

Asik would be a nice pickup for us, no doubt.

I can't believe the Jazz let Al and Paul walk just like that. They should have tried to move one of them during the season if they were just going to let them both walk.

Umm, this signing all but eliminated the Hawks as a potential suitor for Asik. Millsap is most definitely not a 3 and neither is Horford.

If 5.8% of his minutes played is a lot then sure, he played a lot of SF.

I thought I remembered seeing him start at the 3 multiple times. Forgive me.
