Jim O'Brien has been fired as head coach of the Pacers, according to multiple sources that spoke with Mike Wells of the Indianapolis Star.

The Pacers went 36-46 in O'Brien's first two seasons with the club before winning just 32 games in 09-10.

The Pacers had a somewhat promising start to the current season, even beating the Heat on November 22nd. The team had an 11-10 record on December 11th after beating Charlotte, but had won just six of 23 games since.

Wells reports that assistant coach Frank Vogel will act as head coach for the remainder of the season.
