Nfl.com reports that Giants DE Osi Umenyiora, in a recent interview told reporters that he "Felt great" and believed he was on track to "play at the end of the season, definetley the playoffs". Osi says he is progressing very well and woul have been available to play if the Giants advanced to the postseason.
Osi, recognized as one of the best DE's in the league, suffered a knee injury during the NFl preseason and was placed on the Injured Reserve (IR). This opened space for the signing of DE Dave Tollefson, whose been playing backup to Giants DE's Justin Tuck and Mathias Kiwanuka.
The odd thing, is that the Giants haven't missed Osi. The team leads the league in sacks to this point with 26, and have a top pass-rush and run-defense.
Giants could have easily benefited from having Osi back at the end of the season, which would have allowed Kiwanuka to move back into the LB role, adding more skill at LB, but due to being placed on the injured reserve, Umenyiora is ineligeble to play until the 2009 season.
