Danny Ainge confirmed the Boston Celtics are “monitoring” Greg Oden.

Oden is recovering from microfracture surgery and hopes to sign with an NBA team before the end of this season.

"Yeah, so we're monitoring Greg, like all the NBA teams are, but we have not attempted to sign him," Ainge said Thursday. "But we are monitoring him and having (conversations) with his people just to see where he's at."

Oden has played a total of 82 games due to a series of knee injuries.

"I don't think (he'd be ready to play this year)," Ainge said. "I don't know any of that for sure, but I would suspect that anybody that would sign him would have their eyes looking more towards his contribution in the future than now."

CBS Sports reports that the San Antonio Spurs and Cleveland Cavaliers are also interested in Oden.

He could be in Kyrie's next Uncle Drew commercial and they won't even need makeup to make him look old.

Everyone needs to back off my boy, and let me cry at night when he can never get on the floor for the Cavs.

And for the record, I'd actually be pretty surprised if he doesn't pick the Cavs. We have cap space, the Cleveland clinic and some what of a homecoming even though he was raised in Indiana.

I'm probably completely wrong though

I think he'd rather go to a team that could win him a ring if he had the chance. Might as well get something out of his short career. LeBron is going to be a huge factor too.

I'm just hoping he has a successful comeback and becomes something useful to an NBA team to make his career mean something (not saying a star, but at least a good bench player). Would be a great story, just for him to make the comeback.

He's 25, can't stay on the floor, already determined he won't play this year and at this point is only concerned about getting healthy. Winning a ring this year is the least of his concerns.

Kind of off-topic, but this is still one of the saddest pictures I've ever seen.

I'm sure he'd like to win in his comeback attempt too lol.
