Cincinnati Bengals receiver Chad Ochocinco was fined $5,000 for wearing an orange chin strap during a preseason game.

Ochocinco first wrote about the fine on his Twitter account Saturday, saying, "WTF I got a damn fine already, it's the damn preseason, this is some b-------!!!!"

Rule 5, Section 4, Article 3(a) specifies that all players must wear a "Helmet with chin strap (white only) fastened and face mask attached."

AFC North blog

Walker ESPN.com's James Walker writes about all things AFC North in his division blog.

On his Twitter account, Ochocinco said he was suing the NFL for discrimination.

"Im sueing [sic] the NFL," he wrote at about 1:45 p.m. ET, "I am color blind so this fine is discriminating because I'm disabled in a way, this is a sad day for me:("

He also posted a photograph of the letter he received from the league.

Ochocinco also posted a reaction to the fine on ESPN senior NFL analyst Chris Mortensen's Twitter account, writing, "mort this is [expletive] ridiculous, I am typing a letter back to the league office as we speak, I'm fining they a$$ [sic] back!!!! :("

In three preseason games against the New Orleans Saints, New England Patriots and St. Louis Rams, Ochocinco has six receptions for 151 yards and no touchdowns.
I don't get what's wrong with the color but I guess it's in the rule book, Bengals coach should have known though to make sure he was wearing a white chinstrap. I guess it doesn't really matter whether it's pre-season or not, a rule is a rule? What a silly rule though...

I swear dude football is now being impossible to watch. Sooner or later we may be fined for sitting wrong while watching the game. Too many rules that dont even mean anything. They are taking the fun out of football for these guys and if i could protest i would.

not wearing coloured chinstraps won't change the entertainment of the sport, lol

wat are you talking about ^
I'm just joking around with you, I know what you mean. The NFL is cracking down a little too much. They should focus more on the players who are getting arrested rather than the colour of a chin guard.

At this point, I think the NFL is just "fighting fire with fire" with him. If he's going to keep up his antics and do the little things to try and get attention, they're gonna call him out on it. They're probably tired of dealing with it.

Chad knows better. Its not like he doesn't get fined $5K for every time he has worn a black chin strap on the field.

This is just Chad finding a reason to btch, piss and moan to the media about how much of a "victim" he is. I still can't believe the Bengals have dealt with his sh.. for so long.

Rules are rules. no matter how big or small. If Chad is tired of paying for breaking the rules then he can either start following them or get the hell out.

So you'd be okay if Chad took the field wearing a pink chin strap? Its losers like him that are the reason the league has specific rules governing the uniform.

I don't think Marvin Lewis really cares what he does anymore. It's not coming out of Lewis's bank account. As long as he only hurts him self even more then he already has oh well. It's getting tiring and I'm sick of hearing about it. Something needs to be done with this team, I'm sick of watching them sink 600 more feet under the ground every year. As long as his BS doesn't became another distraction to the team - I'm getting fed up with it. Just get rid of him and be done with it. I'm sure as much as he runs his mouth he'll get hurt bad sooner later. If he hasn't grown up by now it's not going to change.

Anybody see the episode of Hard Knocks where Marvin Lewis was trying to explain to Chad Johnson how banks work?

Until that moment, it never really occurred to me just how uneducated and oblivious Chad Johnson really is in life.

I'm a big Bengals fan and haven't even seen it yet, I want to though. Think it costs $6.99 or something to watch which isn't too bad I guess. I'll definitely watch it soon and I knew he was rather unintelligent quite some time ago - Maybe it's even worse then what I had provisioned, lol.

I remember hearing that Cooley tried to cash a $7,000,000 check at the Bank-of-America drive-thru, lol.
