The Bulls are off to their best start since the Michael Jordan days and are first in the East at 18-5. For center Joakim Noah, he got off to a slow start and he feels his contract extension is part of the reason. Noah says he thought about the contract and that got in the way.

Via Chicago Tribune:

“Yeah, no question, I thought about that,” Noah said. “Sometimes you feel like because you’re given so much money you’re expected to do things. That’s not the right mentality to have as a player.

“I’ve always been a player who reacts well to criticism and doubters,” Noah said. “I feel my teammates were always behind me. But I knew as well as anyone how poorly I was playing. And not only wasn’t I playing well, but I was putting a lot of pressure on myself. I wasn’t playing loose out there. I was playing tight.

“In the beginning of the year, I was overthinking a lot. I was going through a lot of things personally. I feel a lot more comfortable now. I have to stop overthinking and just play.”

Noah seems like he starting to be himself, averaging 13.3 points and 13.3 rebounds in the Bulls last three games.

I find this interesting because you always hear the talk about how guys getting new contracts may hurt their play.

Takes a man to admit this though. But I would never expect more than 12/12/2 from him. His type is found in every draft but he was a high lottery pick so he has more hype.

Noah is such a bum. One of my least favorite players. But I just cannot fathom that his play was hurt because of a contract when his play was not that good anyway. He is a skinny big man who yells on the court when he scores, cause it doesnt happen that often. D Rose carries that team and Noah just has a coach ticket who thinks he's in first class. He is easily replaceable and to make an excuse for sorry play is just what it is, an excuse and not an answer.
