According to two high-ranking Western Conference officials and a high-ranking Eastern Conference official, Nick Young is seeking an annual salary in the range of $9 million per season – and few teams have the funds or the willingness to pay him right now.

“I do hear his price tag is pretty high,” one Western Conference official said.

Young averaged a career-high and team-leading 17.4 points per game last season for the Wizards, the highest among free agent shooting guards.

jeeze, hes a good young talent but im not sure he touches even 15ppg on a good team. $9Mill per season is a ton for him. good luck to him though.

Bad news for the Pistons if he gets paid that much lol. Stuckey is a better player than Young imo.

Sike, didn't know we already re-signed him.

Restricted free agency isn't always nice to these guys.

its only the QO. its smart. he didnt get what he wanted and now if he can go out and score 17ppg again this season then hes an unrestricted free agent next season and will probably get what he wants. if he wants that much and wants to be on a better team and be a piece they need then he needs to go out and get around 15-18ppg.

Nick Young thought his career year was going to produce a lucrative long-term deal, but a down free agent market and no reasonable alternatives forced him to sign his one-year, $3.7 million qualifying offer and stay with the only team he has known.

Instead of focusing on what didn’t happen, Young will put his attention on what he can control this season with the Wizards.

“I’m just taking it out on the league,” said Young, who averaged a career-best 17.4 points last season. “I’m not going to sit back and pout. Nobody owes nobody nothing. It’s a business, and if they want me back, I’ll come back to the Wizards. I’m happy to be here.”
