PHOENIX -- The tuck rule, the once-obscure-but-much-debated regulation that helped the New England Patriots go to the Super Bowl in 2001, could disappear.

Instant replay, which already interrupts the game more times than the Steelers would care to see, could be amended so that a coach without a challenge could still manage to have a play reviewed.

And defenses probably will be glad to know that running backs such as Adrian Peterson soon may be punished for leading with the crown of their helmet, instead of the other way around.

Those are some of the several rule proposals that could be adopted this week when the National Football League owners convene for their annual meeting, which begins today.

The tuck rule, though, probably will draw the most attention. It is one of six proposed rule changes from the league's competition committee that may be abandoned.

Because apparently this wasn't already a Passing league. Unbelievable. I'm starting to lose sight of what football is if we're telling RBs how to run.

The RB rule is the stupidest rule change in history.

Just give 'em fucking flags for Christ's sake.

And even then they would make rule changes on how large the flags can be and where they can be positioned.

The Tuck rule is gone. 29 owners voted in favor, 2 abstained.

The helmet-crown rule has been. added by a vote of 31-1.

Fuck it, let's just eliminate punt returns and onside kicks while we're at it.

That's not far behind. Goodell wants to eliminate the kick off altogether.

For once, I agree with Mike Brown when it comes to voting no on the helmet-crown rule.

The most pathetic excuse for a rule I have ever seen...
How the rule is worded on paper doesn't mean shit. The fact that we're all gonna have no choice but to deal with how its enforced in the game and the number of fuckups we'll see by the refs is unbelievable...

I can't wait until a 50 yard run is brought back because of this.
