Pro Football Talk - Daniel Kaplan of Sports Business Journal reports that the NFL is planning for a season that would be as short as eight games.

The plan, which would require that a new collective bargaining agreement be reached in October, would have the season begin in late November, with a whopping five weeks allowed for free agency, training camps, and maybe a single preseason game.

I guess half a season is better than no season but fuck that, there's still plenty of time to get something done.

8 games is just too small of a sample size to be taken seriously.

An abbreviated schedule of any kind will lead to a lot of scrutiny and ridicule, but cutting a season completely in half will make the entire season a joke. The Redskins won the Super Bowl in 82-83 during a strike shortened year. I'm not sure how it was perceived back then, but I'd imagine that in today's time with the media and the internet, the significance of the super bowl will be greatly downplayed due to the drastically shortened season. I think that would do more harm than good for the league.

Well, if we do end up playing 8 games, I guess I won't have to worry about as many losses. Maybe we'd benefit from it and win a few games, lol. We all want a normal season though.

It'd be different, for sure. Not in a good way, either. Looking back at Standings as of Week 9, last year, the Packers were only 5-3, the Eagles 4-3, Chargers 3-5. I don't think 8 would give teams enough time to prove themselves. At least 10, or 12, maybe?

Im opposed to the idea of an 8 game schedule although my team is known for getting off to a great start. It would make the eventual super bowl champion have a flawed championship. Every game will be that more critical to win. Strength of schedule will also be thrown out the window if its the first 8 or the last 8. Some teams might not even play their division foes if this were to be instituted. Teams that didnt have much personnel changes would have a clear advantage over teams with new coaches or a lot of new players.

The only good that would come out of this would be less injuries since they are playing less games.
