The Nets and Pacers have agreed to a four-team trade that would send Courtney Lee to the Rockets and bring Sparta native Troy Murphy to New Jersey. The deal is awaiting league approval and is expected to be announced later Wednesday afternoon.

Chad Ford writes: "the Rockets, Hornets, Pacers and Nets have agreed to the details of the trade and are awaiting a trade call with the league this afternoon to make it official." James Posey would go to the Pacers while Trevor Ariza heads to the Hornets and Darren Collison to the Pacers.

Dave D'Alessandro writes: "They will announce later this afternoon that they have acquired Troy Murphy, the former Delbarton High star who has been languishing in Indiana the past 3½ seasons, according to an agent who has an interest in the five-player swap."

The 6'11" Murphy is one of the game's top three point shooters from the four spot, with a career percentage of 39.4%. With the addition of Murphy, Travis Outlaw, Anthony Morrow, Jordan Farmar and Damion James, the Nets have the potential to become one of the league's top three point shooting teams.

The trade would reduce the Nets cap space by $10 million. Murphy, who has an expiring contract, makes $11.9 million this season while Lee, still on his rookie contract, makes $1.4 million. However, with Murphy, Kris Humphries and Quinton Ross' contracts expiring, the Nets could have more than $20 million in cap space come July.

Hornets Get: Trevor Ariza

Pacers Get: Darren Collison, James Posey

Nets Get: Troy Murphy

Rockets Get: Courtney Lee

Winner: Pacers

Loser: Rockets

Pacers got Collison, the point guard they've needed for awhile, to pair with Granger, Hibbert, George, and Stephenson. The Rockets traded their starting SF for a backup SG? I'm not quite sure about that one. Hornets didn't really need Collison, but I would have thought they had better offers than Trevor Ariza. The Nets getting Troy Muprhy... Who cares? Let Favors and Lopez play down low.

Favors was drafted with many people thinking he wouldn't start right away - bringing in Troy Murphy (whose game I am a big fan of) only solidifies this. They should trade Favors if they can.

This makes absolutely no sense for the Rockets. Lee for Ariza is just idiotic.
Nets would get better though, even though it doesn't really make sense since they drafted Favors.

You got the first part correct. But Favors will likely be starting towards the end of the season, Murphy was signed because we had no depth at PF and we didn't want to throw Favors into the fire right away. We still have plenty of CAP space after taking on Murphy's contract, so we may deal him around the trade deadline.

We open up the season with a four game home stand, the opening night game is against the Pistons. The Kings, Heat and Bobcats will follow.

The Pistons should of been tons better as well.

Neither team made any moves that makes them heaps better either. I don't see the Nets as a better team than the Pistons.

I do. If Yi could put 31 up on them, then imagine what Murphy could do (sarcasm).

Real good deal for the Pacers and Nets. Collison is the player they have needed for a long ass time as BKS stated.

So I'm guessing Lee will serve as a back up for KMart. I guess he'll be a good depth guy since kmart is injury prone.
