The Nets gave up their top-three protected first round pick on Thursday in a trade for Gerald Wallace.

A source from the Nets said that the only three players from the expected draft class that they "loved" are Anthony Davis, Michael Kidd-Gilchrist and Thomas Robinson.

A source also said they have given big contracts to the likes of Travis Outlaw, and have no idea what they're doing.

As a Blazers fan I really like this logic, or lack of it. However, as a Nets fan I could be crying into my drink since this does not make any sense.

Maybe there is more to it but if you know Deron isn't going to opt in I don't see how Gerald Wallace is going to keep him there. It would seem that you would want to keep the pick and see where it ends up and if you truly don't like anyone outside of the top 3 why not try to use it to pick up other picks or trade assets instead of a 30 year old player that I would argue has his best days behind him.

As stated earlier, I'm sorry Nets fans...

Rod Thron =/= Billy King

That being said, I really hate this team. I really do.

Fuck Brooklyn. At least call yourself the "NY Nets" again, fucking posers.

Ditto, being a top 5 pick is a hard to pass up.

Although it has been done before obviously.

Michael Kidd-Gilchrist intends to declare for the draft after this season, according to sources.

"He hopes he'll be able to announce right after they win the NCAA championship," one source said. "But even if they don't win it all, he's coming. He knows he's going to be a top-5 pick. He can't pass that up."

Kidd-Gilchrist is a long, athletic swingman with an impressive floor game.

"He's the type of kid that you always want on your team," one NBA general manager said. "Coaches love him, his teammates love him and he does all the little things that matter on the court. He cares about winning and that's it. I doubt he ever looks at a box score."
