The New Jersey Nets have acquired guard David Wesley from New Orleans in exchange for guard/forward Bernard Robinson, center Mile Ilic and cash considerations, Nets President Rod Thorn announced Monday.

“This transaction provides the Nets with roster flexibility for the upcoming season”, said Thorn.

Wesley has played 14 seasons in the NBA, including one season in New Jersey (1993-94). He holds career averages of 12.5 points and 4.4 assists per game.

Robinson was acquired by the Nets on January 3, 2007 from the Charlotte Bobcats . He averaged 1.0 point in 10 games with New Jersey last season. Over his three-year NBA career, Robinson has averages of 4.5 points and 2.5 rebounds in 128 games.

Ilic, the Nets second round selection (43rd overall) of the 2005 NBA Draft, appeared in five games with the New Jersey as a rookie in 2006-07, totaling one rebound in six minutes of action. Ilic also appeared in nine games with the Colorado 14ers of the NBA Development League in 2006-07, averaging 5.2 points, 4.0 rebounds and 1.78 blocks per game.

let's see -- they let Antoine Wright go to pick up an over-the-hill SG/PG... makes perfect sense

What the heck? New Orleans was just gonna release him anyways, this guy is trash. So the Nets send Robinson (really young and unproven) and some foreign guy to pick up a old guy with not much left....who knows maybe if they give Wesley time maybe he can still do something.

NEWS: The Hornets waived Robinson and Ilic.
