Ken Berger of CBS Sports reports that the Nuggets are "operating under the firm belief" that Nene will test the free agent market.

No surprise here. When Nene opted out of his deal, it was believed that he was looking to move on to a new destination. Miami and Dallas are reportedly atop his destination wish list, but there are several other teams interested in bringing him aboard. Houston has been listed as a potential landing spot, but Golden State, New Jersey and Indiana may also be in the hunt as well.
One of the surest bets of the soon-to-begin 2011 NBA free-agent period is that Nene wants out of Denver. Where he winds up, and how, will be among the most intriguing storylines when the floodgates open around Dec. 9.

The Nuggets are operating under the firm belief that Nene will test the market as an unrestricted free agent, according to a person familiar with the team's thinking. Six teams have registered interest, the source said: Golden State, New Jersey, Indiana, Miami, Dallas and Houston.

Nene, the top unrestricted free agent on the market in the view of many team executives, will have a say over where he winds up -- though not as much as free agents did under the previous system since free agents can no longer get max deals when leaving their teams via sign-and-trades.
I doubt he goes to Miami or a team like that, they won't have the cap space to pay him what he wants. It'll be interesting where he ends up. I think he would fit in nicely with Houston.

As I said before, if he takes that kind of paycut to go to the Nuggets, I will give him mad props.

again, people think it's all about the $$. It's not always the money. Sometimes these guys are just sick of losing and want to win a ring. They'll take the paycut for 1 year if thats what it takes.

So go to New York where they will have 2 superstars, andone solid player, and the rest crap players to win? Yeah. Oh, and take a paycut for one year? What about the next year?

People just don't get, or refuse to get, how big of an impact the new CBA will have on the league. The league essentially has a hardcap now. It's going to be next to impossible to get two superstars on a team and then be able to fill out that roster with good role players.

Just because I'm a knicks fan doesn't mean i'm talking about the Knicks.

This about Nene and the heat. I'm pretty sure Nene isn't a dumbass and knows the Heat have most of the CAP on 3 players. SO if he wants to go there, he already knows he has to take a paycut. If he wants the money, he won't go there. It's really IS that simple.

for the record: I have no interest in Knicks signing Nene. I have no interest in them getting Chris Paul. I'd rather them fill out the roster and have depth. But I also believe players will take paycuts just so they can win. I've seen it happen when everyone believed money would be the victor. It isn't always that way. Mostly it is, but not always.

Front office executives from several teams are trying to be the first team to meet with Nene at midnight on December 9th in Brazil.

“That will go down to the wire,” a source close to Nene said.

The Denver Nuggets, New Jersey Nets, Golden State Warriors, Houston Rockets, Indiana Pacers, Los Angeles Clippers and Portland Trail Blazers were among the teams that reached out to Nene’s representatives on Wednesday.

Nene appears to be the main free agent prize for teams with cap space.

The Nuggets will almost certainly pay Nene more than they would have if they were more serious in their extension offer earlier in the year.

The Nets could be the major contender for Nene, as they can provide the ability to play with Deron Williams.
