NBA commissioner David Stern believes that the league will have a presence in London before the 2012 Olympic games.

It's nowhere near a done deal, but Stern believes that a regular-season game will be played in London by the time the Olympics are held there in four years.

"Although we have no plans on the drawing board, it has been suggested to us that we should schedule in the next three years or so some regular-season games here -- more than just one -- on some regular basis," Stern said Sunday. "It's fair to say that we'll see a minimum of one and possibly more regular-season games by 2012."
Am I the only one who doesn't think we need to do stuff like this?

NBA whether you like him or not you have to admit he has done an AMAZING, and I mean AMAZING job and making the game of basketball a worldwide sport. That's personally why I believe he's a great commish. Sure some bad things have happened but he has made the game of basketball popular all over.

I just don't get why we need to play games over-seas? To give us a better European presence?

I don't mind a couple of games a year overseas, but putting a franchise in Europe or anywhere outside the US is silly IMO.
