Derrick Rose has been told by the NBA to stop wearing tape on his neck.

The tape helps Rose keep his neck stable.

"Keeping my neck stable," he said. "When you have a crick in your neck it's kind of hard to turn side to side so it's kind of keeping my neck in line and making sure my vertebraes are safe."

Rose was bracing for the possibility of the NBA forbidding him from wearing the tape.

"As long as the league allows me to," Rose said on Saturday when asked how long he would keep wearing it. "If I have a breakthrough game I might wear it the whole year."

Does this give him any advantage or is this just the NBA being stupid because they aren't making money off of it?

Derrick Rose was notified by the NBA to stop wearing tape on his neck on Wednesday, but the NBA has since changed their policy after conferring with union rep Jerry Stackhouse.

The kinesio tape helps Rose keep his neck stable.

Seems that they ban some of the most miniscule things. Not just NBA, but it's peculiar. A mask, to protect your face is okay, but tape to keep your neck stable isn't? Neither of them give a player a certain advantage, just helps protect them.

The shit works about as well as those power bracelets which don't do a damn thing but play jedi mind tricks on the brain.  Players have been using this type of tape for years but not until Derrick Rose wears the stuff on his neck does the NBA suddenly give a crap.

going back to this, i mentioned this to my dad and he was in favor of it getting banned. he uses it on his achilles tendons and says this is like miracle tape. he ruptured both a few years ago and said this tape makes him pain free for the first time in years.

Even more absurd to ban it then, in my opinion. If there's something physical that actually helps you with pain and isn't based on medication, why not let them use it? (Aside from the fact that it looks retarded on your neck)

You basically just told me he's in favor of banning an awesome thing.
