This past Sunday afternoon, I ventured into the city of Newark (with my Dad) to watch the New Jersey Nets take on Dwyane Wade and the rest of the Miami Heat. This would be my first time that I would go to a professional sporting event, and honestly, it will likely be the last time that I do attend one of these games.

We arrived at "The Rock" at 11:30 AM because we had never been there before. As we took in the place and walked around, we noticed that the vendors were selling Miami Heat gear. This made my blood boil and my face must have turned red with anger.

Once we got to our seats at around 12:15, we watched the teams warm up. Once game-time arrived (1:00), the PA guy (who I hate with a burning passion) announced the staring line-ups. When LeBron's name got called, 95% of the people in attendance booed the hell out of him (Neither myself or my Dad partook in that, but everyone else around us did).

When the game finally started, Brook hit a nice post shot to give the Nets a 2-0 lead on the opening possession. After that, it was all Miami Heat from there on. That didn't bother me, as I knew that we had a small chance of beating what is more than likely the best team in the league. What did bother me was not when LeBron got booed every time he touched the ball in the first half, but when he had two flashy dunks in the half. When he had the first dunk, it sounded like the game was being played in Miami, the place erupted with cheers.

We ended up leaving at the end of the third quarter when the score was (80-55?) in favor of the Heat. I was glad, because my experience at the Prudential Center reminded me as to why I would much rather stay at home/in the dorm and watch the games on TV. Everything is overpriced, the ushers are assholes, the fans are retarded band- wagoners and the half-time performance (Miguel) was <Censored>. I don't even know who Miguel is, but he got booed when he performed some gay-ass song.

So, that was a quick wrap-up of my first-ever professional sporting event that I attended. Hopefully, anyone who reads this will share their thoughts on attending sporting events and whether I should go to another one.

lol, some support in NJ. If you go to other places, like in SLC, they love the Jazz, and they wouldn't act like those fans. I'm pretty sure thats how other arenas are as well.

Poor Miguel.

Comerica Park and Joe Louis Arena is great for me. I havent been to the palace or ford field yet. But a comerica and the joe i had a great time. The people at both are both friendly and dont support the other team.

First off, it's a complete travesty that you are 17/18/19 and have never been to a professional sports game of any sort.

Secondly, The Prude is a disgrace of an arena.

Third, Nets fans are known to just be horrible.

I've been to plenty of sports games, most of which were for my team - but even going with friends to support their teams. And honestly, everyone knows that <Censored> is overpriced and that the workers are dicks. Everyone knows that the fans are completely biased and stupid. But that's all part of the experience. Hopefully some day, you'll go to a good game in a good arena and have a good time and you will change your mind. I don't know of anything that brings more enjoyment to me than going to a sports game.

I've been to Comerica, at least twice a year, and love it there every time. No matter the score, no matter what's going on, the fans are great. It's a great atmosphere. I've only been to the Palace and Ford Field once, but I enjoyed it both times. Not as much as Comerica, but still had fun.

Everytime I go to the Palace I love it. I would go to every game if I had the money.

wow 1st game?

i'll just say give it another shot. give it a couple of chances in fact.
go to other events too. not just the Nets.

maybe it's cause you're in the east coast. idk if i would want to go to Yankee Stadium with all those crazy people either lol

go to a Nets game vs a regular NBA team. and try and go when the Nets are at least competitive (whenever that may be)

and dont buy anything at the arena/stadium. i always eat before or after the game. you're right, everything is too expensive

Thankfully, I ate before the game. I didn't spend one cent in there.

Thanks for the input, and people in NJ are crazy.

Go to a Yankee game, not only do we usually win, it's not a <Censored>hole.

The Prudential Center is actually a nice venue. It's just that the overall experience sucked.

Wow man, first sporting event experience? I feel for ya. Especially it was <Censored>ty..

My first game, ever, happened to be when Peterson set the rushing record. I got lucky.
