ATLANTA — More than 100 former NFL players have filed a federal lawsuit in Atlanta claiming that pro football didn’t properly protect its players from concussions.

The plaintiffs in the lawsuit include former Atlanta Falcon Jamal Anderson, ex-Georgia star Lindsey Scott and veteran quarterback Don Majkowski.

The lawsuit, filed Thursday in federal court in Georgia, claims the league failed to protect NFL players from brain injuries linked to football-related concussions.

They are among more than 1,000 former NFL players suing the league. The cases say not enough was done to inform players about the dangers of concussions in the past, and not enough is done to take care of them today.

The league has said any allegation that the league intentionally sought to mislead players is without merit.

The job description does not say you're going to be mentally disturbed when you leave the game and have your life cut short.

But there will continue to be fans crying about the league trying to stop headshots, even though its the right thing to do.

It's a joke to me that most fans just brush this concussion stuff aside like it's no big deal, and seem to be content watching people literally kill each other on the field.

yeah but at the same time they cant act like they had no idea bashing they're heads into each other with just plastic in between would have lasting affects.

And now they're getting rid of that problem, which for some reason has a two sided argument just because people want their "old school football".

The current players are incredibly lucky the NFL is cracking down on helmet to helmet hits, even though they foolishly keep arguing about the new rules, as if they want head trauma and other serious problems as they get older.

some helmet to helmets aren't intentional and you can tell, but then there is the hits where there isnt any body being used at all and thats the problem.

I'm just torn about the situation. On one hand, when you go out and play football, you should know what you're getting into plus the fact that not all hits are intentional. On the other hand, the NFL should start considering looking into their helmets to see if they're doing enough.
