The New York Knicks were eliminated from playoff contention on Saturday in a down season in the Eastern Conference, leading to uncertainty in the future of Mike Woodson.
 
"I'm pleased and happy to have been given this opportunity. And if they bring me back, I'm gonna make damn sure that this doesn't happen again next season," Woodson said.
 
Woodson said he deserves to coach the final season on his current contract.
"Am I the guy for the job? I'm the only guy for this job. I've always said that. I don't mean that in a braggadocios way. But I feel good about what I do as a coach. And I know the system works."
