Jaguars GM Gene Smith believes Mike Thomas could emerge as a true number one wide receiver in 2011.
"He can emerge," Smith said. "I think this past year he showed that when called upon." The Jaguars are expected to be in the market for a free agent wideout once the transactions freeze is lifted, but even if Thomas doesn't end up atop Jacksonville's depth chart, he's still likely to be a solid WR2 in all formats in 2011.
Derp, the dude is MJD at the WR position.

not really

MJD would easily start on 28 of the NFL teams

Thomas would be a #3 reciever in NE
http://www.jaguars.com/news/article.aspx?id=10098

“Mike Thomas emerged last year as one of our go-to guys,” Smith said. “Mike produced in clutch situations. He's a guy who thrives in situations where he's got to go up and make a contested catch. “He's the all-time Pac 10 receiving leader.

“I tell people he's Maurice Jones-Drew playing wide receiver from a receiving standpoint.”
You wrong.

Also to note.

You said Mike Thomas would be a #4 in NE.

He had around the same amount of yards as Wes Welker 3 less TDs and on 20 less receptions.

With Brady, Mike Thomas would murder <Censored>.

i said #3, not number 4.

and you cannot base skill with WR when you use Patriots WRs.

First off, Welker had a pretty bad season compared to the past. Its because a lot of Brady's attention went to Gronkowski mid-season

And still, Welker is much better to the team than Thomas would be. Thomas had 5 1st downs last year; Wes Welker-47. on an off year.

Look at who the QB is?

Mike Thomas was a basically a #3 on a running team.

He was #3 in looks after Marcedes, MSW and even MJD.

Mike Thomas on the Patriots would put up beast numbers.

I don't think he'll be a legit #1 this upcoming season, but he'll probably be your #1. Still a good #2.

No he wouldnt

Options would be as such

1. Welker
2. Gronkowski
3. Branch
4. Woodhead
5. Thomas

Thomas would get about 30-40 catches, and have like 460 yards. He would not put up beast numbers with the Patriots.

Branch isn't better than Thomas.

Thomas has good hands too, after Brady trusted him. He would go ahead of Gronk.

I don't care what option he'd be on the Pats, but I will say this much about the topic... Any team with Mike Thomas as their #1 is going nowhere.

Yes... He puts up decent numbers on an awful team with no WRs, kudos to him. He's too small (and quite frankly, just not good enough) to be an effective #1 WR.

With Brady as Branch's QB, Branch>Thomas. Tom trusts Deion more than Wes (another reason why Welker's catches were down)

Look, Deion had similar stats as Thomas last year, and Branch had more yards versus the Detroit Lions than he did in the 4 games with Seattle.

You truly are a Jags homer. A homer isn't necessarily someone who thinks everybody on their team is good, but rather a homer is someone who WAY overvalues some of their players. You way overvalue Thomas.

Um, hes basically around the same Height as Steve Smith (Which is who hes compared to).

Last year was his 2nd year and he put up better stats Than Mike Williams (Considered the Bucs #1) Kenny Britt (Who is considered the Titans #1) and others on a run first team. Blaine Gabbert is only going to make him better considering that Gabbert is a better passer than Garrard.

How are the Jags a Awful team also? We were 1 win away from the playoffs, 2 years in a row.

I'm not overvaluing Thomas. He is what he is. He can be effective as a #1, I never said he'd be better than Wes Welker or Calvin Johnson or anything. He'd be a #2 in New England. Hes as good as Mike Wallace is in Pittsburgh. I'd take him over Deion Branch. If you think Deion Branch is better than Mike Thomas then you're the homer.

He's so much more comfortable in NE than anywhere else

No, Thomas isnt better or equal to Wallace. And Britt missed 4 games, and barely played in another, and got injured before doing anything in another

Britt in 10 games had 45 less yards and 5 more TDs than Thomas had all year. Britt>>>>Thomas

and how did thomas have better stats than Williams? Williams had 1 less catch, 144 yards more, and 7 more TDs than Thomas

he won the MVP, not Brady

you honestly are bigger of a homer than you think you are, because you will never admit that you're wrong, when you clearly are. I have clearly proved to you that Thomas, who is not nearly as good as you portray him to be, isn't that good, and I refuted almost all of your "points". Yet you continue to deny that you're wrong.

I am done arguing for nothing; if he wants to stay a homer, so be it.
