Erik Spoelstra has apparently decided upon a starting lineup for the Miami Heat for the coming season, with Shane Battier at power forward.

Chris Bosh will start at center and LeBron James will slide down to small forward.

Dwyane Wade and Mario Chalmers will start in the backcourt.

Battier finished last season as an undersized power forward.

why in the world would they start Battier?

If they want to go small ball and not start Turiaf/Anthony, why would they not put LeBron at PF, where he has shown to be successful at, and have either Dwyane or Ray Allen at SF, with the other at SG? Allen is much better than Battier imho. Shane, while he did make some shots, missed a lot of threes in the playoffs. Ray hardly ever misses, so thats a mistake by Spoelstra by not starting Judas Shuttlesworth

Shane Battier is one of the worst players in the NBA.

You act like the Lakers can guard Miami

They'll go small and spread the court. So yeah, they can leave Pau and Dwight in the low post to stop LBJ and Wade driving , but have fun leaving Bosh and Ray wide open in the process

Miami will have an easier time guarding the Lakers than LA will with the Heat

They can call Battier the "PF" all the want, but I'm pretty sure they'll have LeBron guard the PF's over him and it's not like Battier is gonna be posting up and playing like a PF on offense, so yeah...

Yeah BKS is right.
Offensively it makes them harder to guard, defensively they will just have LeBron guard the bigger/stronger PFs.
