Carlos Beltran hasn't found a way to keep himself off the injured list for the past few years. The team hoped he could find a way to do so this year, but his latest turn of events doesn't bode well.

After Beltran made news the other day by actually running to home from second base without hurting himself, he took the next day off to rest his surgically repaired right knee. Then yesterday, the plan was to have him play again. Instead, the New York Post reports, Beltran has been "shut down for 4-5 days because of tendinitis in his left knee." He is switching positions to right field this year, but he hasn't played there yet this spring.

"At the moment we're not scrambling for a Plan B, C or D," GM Sandy Alderson said, according to the paper. "We're certainly not looking outside the organization. We've got plenty of time. I'm very optimistic he'll be ready to go. . . . At this stage, it's not worrisome."

While Beltran, who is in the final year of his contract, can't take the field, the paper notes that he can still "bike, work in the pool and hit in the cage."

Oh yes! This is exactly what we need to start off the season.
