ESPN - Donovan McNabb plans to ask the Redskins to release him following the current season, according to a source close to the quarterback.

McNabb wants to be in a position where he can pick the place to finish his career, not have it dictated to him as was the case last season when Philadelphia traded him to Washington.

The Redskins will attempt to trade McNabb initially.

Minnesota, Seattle, San Francisco, Carolina, Tennessee and Miami are all likely to be interested in acquiring a quarterback this offseason.
