Curious how Moreno and Hillman will fare with the workloads now, or to see which of the 3 performs better and eventually grabs more carries as the season progresses.
Denver Post - "A Broncos running game that had diminished into a complement to quarterback Peyton Manning will now be operating with complementary running backs.
Broncos tailback Willis McGahee is expected to miss the final six games of the regular season and could be out in the early portion of the postseason after an MRI exam Monday revealed a torn medial collateral ligament and a compression fracture in his right knee.
Broncos coach John Fox said it could have been worse: McGahee's knee won't require surgery to repair, at least not now. The team will not put him on season-ending injured reserve, which means the Broncos hope to have him back by the playoffs, provided they get that far."He's a fast healer. He's a tough, competitive guy," Fox said. "A lot of times, your veteran guys are that way."
McGahee has been the Broncos' leading rusher the past two seasons. He rushed for 1,199 yards last season, and even though he turned 31 last month, he had 731 yards rushing through 10 games this season (on pace for 1,170 yards).
He suffered the injury early in the second quarter Sunday when San Diego cornerback Quintin Jammer struck him in the knee with his helmet. Jammer also was injured on the play.
With McGahee down, Ronnie Hillman, Lance Ball and Knowshon Moreno will share the tailback role, starting with the Broncos' next game Sunday against the Kansas City Chiefs at Arrowhead Stadium.
