Jason Maxiell will not sign a contract extension with the Pistons by the Oct. 31 deadline, meaning that he will become a restricted free agent next summer.

"(The team has) expressed that he is a major contributor to their success," agent Richard Katz said Friday. "What we differ about on, is what that is worth."

Detroit offered the forward a three-year deal worth $15 million, with a team option for a fourth season.

"He loves it in Detroit, and is very comfortable," Katz said. "We'll just have to see how all this plays out."

If Maxiell has a big season, he could land a more lucrative offer with another team.

I don't blame him, Wha if he has a Breakout year? He can get More Money than what is being offered now.

5mil a year sound very reasonable for him if you ask me.

he'll play his ass of this year in order to get a better deal, and then they'll have to pay him more since they arent getting any younger.
