"Delonte West was suspended by the Mavericks for "conduct detrimental to the team,'' coach Rick Carlisle said after the 123-104 preseason victory against Houston at American Airlines Center. It was unknown what the 6-3 guard did to merit the suspension, but it was believed that he will only be barred from the team for a day or perhaps one preseason game in an attempt to send a quick, direct message to the eight-year veteran. West, who suffers from bipolar disorder and takes medication to keep it under control, had seemed to be on his best behavior since signing a one-year contract with the Mavericks in the off-season. He referred to it as the second season of a two-year deal, since he was operating on a one year contract in 11-12."
