The Maloof family has asked its fellow NBA owners to approve the sale of the Sacramento Kings to a group from Seattle.

In a letter sent to the NBA's relocation committee, the Maloofs indicates there is "significant distance between us and the Sacramento group."

The Maloofs said the Sacramento group has asked not to enter into a binding agreement until the Seattle deal is terminated.

The Maloofs reached an agreement in January to sell a 65 percent controlling interest in the Kings to Hansen's group at a total franchise valuation of $525 million, an NBA record.

Chris Hanson later voluntarily increased the valuation to $550 million.

I don't know how much we've discussed it here, but do people want the Kings to move to Seattle?

Or would you rather the team stay in Sacramento?

i think all fans are mixed on it. i personally want to see the move, mainly move away from the maloofs but the whole team moving will help regardless.

What they should do imo is create two expansion teams, and restructure the divisions completely, to have 4 divisions per conference, with 4 in each.

This is what I came up with to make it work geographically

EAST:
Northeast: NYK/BKN/BOS/TOR
Southeast: MIA/ORL/ATL/CHA
Central: MIN/MIL/CHI/DET
Mideast: IND/CLE/PHI/WAS

WEST:
Northwest: SEA/POR/DEN/UTA
Pacific: LAL/LAC/SAC/GS
Southwest: SA/HOU/DAL/PHO
Midwest: OKC/NO/MEM/STL

That, and lower the salary cap by like $10M so it's harder for teams to have multiple stars; it creates more competitive balance
