Wide receiver Malcom Floyd today signed a three-year contract extension that will carry through the 2015 season.
The 6-5, 225-pounder signed a two-year deal with the team shortly after the NFL Lockout ended last season. Floyd is one of the NFL’s most talented downfield threats as his 17.9-yard average per catch would attest. His career totals include 190 catches for 3,397 yards and 21 touchdowns. If Floyd had the necessary 250 catches to qualify for the team’s all-time list, his yards per catch average would rank third-highest in team history.
Over the 2010-11 seasons, Floyd averaged 19.7 yards per catch as he hauled in 80 passes for 1,573 yards and 11 touchdowns, and already this season he leads the team with 13 catches for 227 yards (17.5 avg.).
Good signing for the Chargers. He's been the #1 guy this year, now that Vincent Jackson is in Tampa. Need to keep him around. He had a great statistical year for them last year, and is their leader this year, so far. The only thing about it is that he is 31 right now, but he has been a great receiver for them.
